Swimming is an important life skill for citizens of any island nation. Drowning is a leading cause of death among young people in Fiji and working in cooperation with local and national bodies, Madventurer’s can contribute to a programme designed to increase the number of people who are taught to swim at school age and ultimately save lives.
We are currently running the following Swimming projects:
There are currently 848 primary and high schools in the Fiji Islands. It is estimated that 20 - 30 of these schools include swimming in their school curriculum. The Amateur Swimming Association of Fiji (ASAF) and its Schools Swimming Committee would like to see this number increase.
Schools are coached at the Northern club throughout school term 1 & 3 (Feb – May & Sept – Nov); it is also home to the Great White Sharks swim club who train daily. We are also close enough to Nadi so that our coaches may be able to commute to the two clubs who meet at the Nadi sports club (Barracudas and Macos).
Due to the scheduling of swimming coaching in Fiji, you will get the best out of your project if you consider teaming this sport with the another choice from our wide list of coaching options in this destination.
