Individual volunteer placements are an excellent way of contributing to a community whilst gaining valuable, unique and challenging work experience. This will promote you further in life whether you are gaining the experience for your career or higher education.
The idea for Madventurers taking part an individual placement is that you make a cultural exchange. Whether you work in a hospital, orphanage, newspaper or school you can see for yourself how they operate in a developing country, offer your skills, support and at the same time learn not only about your chosen specialty but on a whole way of life in another country.

We will work with you to select the best placement in the destination of your choice to suit your skills and background. All placements are unpaid but you will be provided with food, accommodation and crew support within your fee.
Accra. You will be living and working in the capital city, Accra. Sitting on the edge of the Atlantic, this fast paced, bustling, vibrant city is an ideal base from which to experience the unique culture, renowned hospitality and beautiful landscapes this country has to offer.
Kenya – Naivasha. You will be based in the town of Naivaisha within the Rift Valley area about an hour and a half away from Nairobi. Naivaisha is a laid back African town with a very poor local population that suffers from a wide range of social problems. Amenities include internet access, small local shops, a local market and many African cafes to get a traditional cup of chai.
Uganda – Jinja. You will be based in Jinja close to the source of the mighty white Nile and near to Uganda’s capital city, Kampala. This is a relaxed town with a market, matatu [a large minibus that acts as a shuttle] park, internet cafes, post office, bars [for cold soft drinks or beers], cafes and small shops that will provide most essentials and a little bit more.
Cusco. Our placements here are based in and around the city of Cuzco. Located 3400m above sea level in the Andes Mountains, Cuzco was once the centre of the great Inca Empire and is home to some 300,000 people. The city attracts a great deal of tourism not least as the base for getting to the Inca Trail and the ruined Inca city of Machu Picchu.
Fiji – Nandi. You would be living in Lautoka, in the Madventurer house. Lautoka is Fiji's second biggest city with an estimated population of 40,000; it's located on the West of Viti Levu near the International Airport of Nadi. Famous for being the centre of Fiji's sugar industry nicknamed Sugar City'), Lautoka will give you a fascinating insight into daily island life away from the well beaten tourist track.
