Years as crew: 4 Years and counting!
Favourite Mad Moment: During an Akha tribal wedding, the whole village breaking out in a rice ball & soot fight, hurling balls of charcoal covered rice across the room at everyone & chasing each other around the village giggling
Best bit about Crewing: Reliving your first experience of the culture through fresh eyes every time new people arrive.
Top tip for life on a Project: Mai pen rai, a Thai phrase meaning 'never mind' or 'no worries', an attitude that epitomises Thai culture, as they believe that if there’s nothing you can do to change something, why worry about it…
Age: 23
Years as crew: one and a half years
Favourite Mad Moment: Too many to choose from, but I’d say the moments that stay with you come from friendships built with people towards a shared positive change
Best bit about Crewing: People, Places, Food, Travel, Culture, Smiles
Top tip for life on a Project: Ultimately you are the one who decides your experience, come with an open mind and a willingness to learn
Age: 29
Years as crew: In my 3rd year
Favourite Mad Moment: Being given the chance to train with Lautoka FC, rubbing shoulders with current and ex-Fiji national players
Best bit about Crewing: Watching the volunteers fall in love with the people and smiles of Fiji, and the kids smiles when they learn new skills across all sports!....and watching the venturers face after downing there first bilo of grog!
Top tip for life on a Project: Embrace the amazing diverse culture of Fiji. Get a taste for grog, and a feel for 'Fiji time' and youll enjoy Fiji so much more!
Age: 36
Years as crew: 2
Favourite Mad Moment: Finally getting to go white water rafting on the Nile River in Uganda in Oct 2008 - insanely fun. Watching the teachers at the school competing in the egg and spoon race during sports day!
Best bit about Crewing: Getting to see people from all over the world transforming their own lives and those of the people that they are working with...it's heartwarmingly rewarding.
Top tip for life on a Project: Communal living can take its toll - I like to get up early before anyone else and spend a few minutes looking at Mount Kilimanjaro, listening to the birds and waving at the kids going to school with my first coffee of the day....it keeps me grounded and reminds me why I'm here.
