British Youth Travel Awards 2010

Madventurer are very proud to be awarded finalist in the Green Tourism Award for the British Youth Travel Awards for 2010.  The awards are voted by  the youth student and educational travel industry each year.  There were a record number of submissions for 2010 and we are delighted to achieve this recognition.  The awards were co-ordinated by BETA which is a not-for-profit trade association founded by some of Britain's biggest and best known travel and educational organisations.

Madventurer community projects focus on building basic infrastructure to assist local community development.  Our key focus is youth development and the provision and improvement of heath, education and sanitation facilities such as schools, classrooms, clinics, toilets, water storage tanks, community centres and sanitation facilities.

Each project is owned and led by the community to ensure its sustainability.  Madventurer works closely in partnership with village chiefs, NGO's and local charities which means each Mad project group is fully integrated into village life, living and working as part of the community.  This helps to create sustainable jobs and ensures that volunteers do not take the place of local staff.  We source materials locally helping to boost local businesses and economies.

Madventurer HQ - Going Green

Madventurer HQ is becoming more environmentally friendly every day through recycling, energy conservation and by becoming a paperless office.  Our Responsibl Travel approach is and always has been our commitment to operating and travelling in a way that is socio-culturally, environmentall and economically responsible.

Travelling in small groups, with an average of 10 volunteers means that we minimise both our environmental and socio-cultural impacts.  We use small locally accommodation and local transport where possible, thereby minimising our demand for purpose built air-conditioned large hotels and chartered transport, reducing fuel consumption and possible negative impacts of large developments.

Madventurer Brochure

Our brochure is made with paper from sustainable sources and can also be downloaded if you go to www.madventurer.info  If you request our Madventurer brochure please help us to be green and give this to a friend once you have finished with it.  Or post it back to us to be recycled.

We hope in 2011 to continue this vitally important work and become the Green Tourism Award Winner!
