One of the greatest challenges facing the government is to ensure that young people leave school equipped with the skills and understanding to become responsible, informed and involved members of the society, providing the human resource required for the labour market. Our projects offer you valuable teaching experience as well as giving you the chance to really have an effect on a child's education.

Project Details

Your teaching project will be in one or a number of schools in the Lautoka area, all within a short distance of the Madventurer house where you would be living.

Venturers Role

Depending on which school you volunteer in - the main focus with these projects is for you to provide extra support as an assistant for the local teachers within class as well as helping those kids who need extra assistance with there studies. Depending on the school/timetable you may even get involved in taking lessons.

Location - Urban

You would be living in Lautoka, in the Madventurer accommodation. Lautoka is Fiji's second biggest city with an estimated population of 40,000; it's located on the West of Viti Levu near the International Airport of Nadi. Famous for being the centre of Fiji's sugar industry (and nicknamed ˜Sugar City"), Lautoka will give you a fascinating insight into daily island life away from the well beaten tourist track.

Accommodation

Whilst on a project you will be living in the Madventurer house in the suburbs of Lautoka overlooking the bay in the distance. Rooms are a dormitory style with 3 double bunk beds in each, which at capacity means upto 6 people per room. The house is based about a 15 minute walk from the town centre and within walking distance of most of the schools that we work with. Your crew will be living in the house with you, to provide all the support you may need.

What's included

Meals at the Mad House, accommodation, transport, arrangement of placement and support from our experienced crew should you need it.

Minimum of 4 people Maximum of 16 - Please note that all our Urban Placements in Fiji for 2010 are guaranteed to run irrespective of numbers.
