Community Building and Teaching Projects NEW for 2008 – Madventurer have just launched an exciting Project on a remote tropical island in the North Fijian archipelago. Located on the beautiful island of Mali just off the coast of Fiji’s second island Vanua Levu, you will be working with the local community to build a much needed toilet block for the island’s school which serves many of the neighbouring villages.

This is a great opportunity to have a very positive impact on a small island community whilst living on a stunning island in the Pacific Ocean. Established in association with Tribe Wanted and the Dream Foundation, this Project is set-up directly with the local community and village chiefs to build a vital piece of sanitation infrastructure which will be of major benefit to the school and its pupils. 

After being welcomed 'home' by Tui Mali the friendly village chief, you will be fully iniatiated into the traditional Fijian village lifestyle. By joining this project you will also get to learn all about traditional Fijian customs and culture, including the Meke and Yaqona ceremonies as you become wholly accepted into the Mali community. During the week you will be building alongside skilled craftsmen, getting involved in mixing cement, laying bricks, plastering walls, painting and generally getting stuck in. Your hard work will soon begin to pay off and each day you can unwind the 'Fijian way' with your new family - be it relaxing round the Kava bowl, playing games with children, or watching another glorious sunset over the Pacific. You will be living on the island as a group of Venturers in local accommodation with your Madventurer crew Leader for the duration of the project with opportunities to explore neighbouring islands and venture further afield at weekends. 

Alongside the building there are opportunities to get involved in teaching English as well as extra - curricular activities like art and sports coaching, giving you a unique opportunity to become immersed in the daily life of the school and wider village community. You'll even use those 'island skills' you never knew you had, all part of an unforgettable experience!
