This fantastic overland adventure costs only £860 with a local kitty payment of USD$640. The local kitty payment is paid in country on day 1 of the adventure.

Itinerary

Days 1 - 5
KENYA - TANZANIA

Depart Nairobi, across the Athi plains driving through to our camp in Arusha. Departure meeting.

With evening celebratory barbecue on our return from the game parks.

Optionals: Afternoon and morning game drives in the Serengeti National Park, afternoon drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation area, morning game drives in Ngorongoro Crater, Olduvai Gorge Museum, a visit in a Maasai village, camel safari.

 

Days 5 - 11


TANZANIA including 4 nights allotted for Zanzibar Island....

Two days scenic drive to Dar es Salaam on the coast, with the chance of views of Kilimanjaro en route. Seafood barbecue on arrival at our camp by the Indian Ocean, and final preparations for the stay on Zanzibar Island.

Free time to allow for an optional four night stay on Zanzibar Island from day 7, returning to Dar es Salaam on day 11.

Talk with us as to the special arrangements we can make for your stay on Zanzibar. We reserve accommodation in popular beach cottages and in a lodge within ancient Stone Town, as well as your other requirements including the ferry bookings, transfers and spice tours.

Other options to budget for include snorkelling excursions to Prison Island famous for its giant tortoise population, as well as snorkelling at Mnemba Atoll, dolphin boat trips, the mangrove walk in Jozani Forest to see the red colobus monkeys, scuba diving.

All accommodation and transfers including a spice tour on Zanzibar Island can be arranged ahead of time.

Days 12 - 13
TANZANIA - MALAWI

Drive through Mikumi National Park to camp at Iringa. Enter Malawi to camp by Lake Malawi at Chitimba.

Days 14 - 16
MALAWI

Three more nights by Lake Malawi camping at simple beach resorts, visiting fishing villages and curio markets.

Optionals: Water sports, horse riding, school and hospital visits, a village meal and dancing.

Days 17 - 24
MALAWI - ZAMBIA

Lilongwe, South Luangwa National Park, guided game drive (depending on the season), Lusaka, Lake Kariba.

Note when South Luangwa is out of season we alternatively head to Hwange or Matopos National Park after visiting Kariba.

Optionals: Evening game drives, (depending on the season), Kariba Houseboats.

Days 25 - 28
ZAMBIA (ZIMBABWE)

Depart Kariba for Livingstone, to camp for four nights at Victoria Falls.

Optionals: Rhino trek, lion walks, horse rides, elephant rides, white water rafting, bungee jump, gorge swing, 'Flight of the Angels' in microlights and helicopters, township tour, interactive drumming, sunset cruise and many other activities at the Falls.

Days 29 - 33
BOTSWANA

Kasane, Maun.

Optionals: Chobe National Park, game drive and cruise, Okavango Delta guided mokoro safari, Moremi Game Reserve, flight over the Delta.

Days 34 - 38
NAMIBIA

Caprivi Strip, morning and afternoon game drives in Etosha National Park, The Cheetah Park, Spitzkoppe or similar camp.

Optionals: Hoba meteorite, Evening game drives in Etosha, Visit with traditional Bushmen or the Himba tribe, Bushman rock paintings.

Days 39 - 44
Cape Cross Seal Colony, Three to four night lodge stay in Swakopmund, Sossusvlei, Namib Naukluft National Park.

Optionals: Tandem sky diving, Sandboarding, Quad-biking, Township tour, Open sea fishing, Dolphin cruise with brunch, Go-karting, Horse riding. Guided walk on the dunes.

Days 45 - 46
NAMIBIA - SOUTH AFRICA

Fish River Canyon, Ai Ais, Orange River.

Optionals: Rafting on the Orange River.

Days 47 - 50
SOUTH AFRICA

Stellenbosch, Cape Town.

Optionals: Wine tour.

Special note: This itinerary extends by two days from the 7th August 2011 to allow time to visit Matopos for a rhino trek and Antelope Park. From this date we will not visit South Luangwa.
